Retired Detective Scotty Miller Shares the Human Story Behind a Digital Investigation in “Call Us Daddy”
United States – October 11, 2026 – Behind every investigation are people, decisions, and consequences that extend beyond the case file. In Call Us Daddy: A Shocking True Crime Story, U.S. Army veteran and retired police detective Scotty Miller offers an inside perspective on a real investigation, highlighting the persistence required to uncover the truth and protect vulnerable young people.
The book follows Detective Trevor Kane as a single digital tip leads to a complex case involving two brothers. Tracing usernames, IP addresses, online accounts, and electronic records, Kane assembles evidence that reveals a troubling reality behind seemingly ordinary lives.
As the investigation expands, Kane must coordinate across jurisdictions, identify those affected, and build a case capable of holding the responsible individuals accountable. The narrative gives readers a detailed look at the work behind an investigation, from obtaining search warrants and examining forensic evidence to conducting interviews and connecting information across multiple sources.
Drawing on his professional experience, Miller places the human impact of the case at the center of the story. Alongside the investigative process, the book examines trust, responsibility, and the lasting effects of serious crimes on individuals, families, and the professionals who respond.
Call Us Daddy presents difficult subject matter with restraint and contains no profanity. Its focus is on the pursuit of truth, the people affected, and the commitment of investigators working to bring a challenging case to resolution.
