D.C. Startup TwentyTables Announced Winner of Prestigious U.S. Chamber Foundation Citizens Award

Washington, D.C. – TwentyTables, a Washington D.C.-based social-impact startup, was named the winner of The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s Best Corporate Steward Award, and recognized nationally during the Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Citizens Awards. Now in its 21st year, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s Citizens Awards recognize the most innovative and impactful corporate citizenship initiatives raising the bar on social responsibility and spearheading the transformation to a strong, healthy, and sustainable future.

Eighteen months ago, at South by Southwest® (SXSW®), TwentyTables was invited on stage and vowed to make an impact, and received the conference’s coveted ‘Best Bootstrap’ prize for a visionary approach to social impact and innovative alignment of profit and purpose. Now only 18 months later, TwentyTables is again being recognized on the National stage, but this time not for promise and vision, but for extraordinary impact, effort, and a steadfast commitment to good corporate stewardship.

“TwentyTables is making a significant difference in communities when it comes to fighting hunger, combining the power of collaboration and outside-the-box thinking that generates measurable impact,” said Marc DeCourcey, senior vice president of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation. “Their innovative approach to providing low-cost meals is helping countless individuals, while also minimizing food waste, and it is an honor to share this company’s story.”

TwentyTables nabbed the award in the Best Corporate Steward: Small and Middle-Market Business category for its Feed the Frontline campaign. TwentyTables launched “Feed the Front Lines,” in March 2020 as an initiative that helped provide prepared meals for health care workers. The campaign not only provided resources to health care workers fighting during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, but its also supported restaurants and small business owners by leveraging its technology to create micro-marketplaces for easy, local service.

“For several months TwentyTables was there with meals to support Howard University Hospital,” said Anita Jenkins, CEO of Howard University Hospital, “their gifts strengthened our Heroes. This was such a wonderful gesture and we remain forever grateful to TwentyTables for thinking about us during these challenging times.”

Founded in March 2017, TwentyTables creates custom SAAS marketplaces for enterprise customers to touchlessly distribute and redeem tokenized benefits. Partnering with The George Washington University, TwentyTables’ pilot marketplace offered a scalable solution to fighting on-campus hunger by connecting thousands of students with school food services, saving students tens-of-thousands of dollars through increased efficiencies and network benefits. With impact at its core, TwentyTables also makes regular donations to local and national food banks, and the company’s team volunteers with D.C. not-for-profits and institutions.

“TwentyTables is honored to win the prestigious US Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s Best Corporate Steward Award,” said Alex Cohen, TwentyTables Founder, “This award is recognition that TwentyTables’ work to connect communities, and to be an innovative force for positive social impact not only matters, but resonates at the highest levels.”

Catalyzing today’s recognition to drive further impact, founder Alex Cohen closed his acceptance speech by announcing the launch of TwentyTables’ Feed the Teachers campaign. TwentyTables’ Feed The Teachers campaign will help support the tireless efforts of our nations educators who are going above and beyond for their jobs in a pandemic.
